Objectives
Aim
Strengthen and support local capacity in health care, teaching and research at KCMC in Northern Tanzania over a 5-year period (i.e. from 2006 to 2011). In particular in HIV, TB, Malaria, Neurology and Epilepsy.
Strategy
To develop appropriate and sustainable methodologies and materials in health care, teaching and research, integrate them into the existing curriculum and assure quality of delivery.
Objectives
- curriculum development and a quality assurance program
- develop teaching guidelines
- target HIV, TB, Malaria and the main non-communicable diseases
- write teaching manuals on:
- Clinical examination
- The most common diseases
- Neurology in Africa
- promote links with key institutions in East Africa and overseas. E.g.
- Makere Medical School, Kampala Uganda
- Kings College Hospital (Neuroscience), London
- Centre for International Health, Bergen, Norway
- develop neurology and epilepsy service at KCMC
- promote research as prioritised by local needs
